The repository comprises datasets related to papers of the OBFA-TRANSFORM Working Paper series. This comprises polished data for plots and tables used in the papers as well as raw data related to the general context. The data has been compiled based on a wide range of different sources.

State Finance Beyond the Core Budget. Off-Balance-Sheet Fiscal Agencies in Germany’s Fiscal Ecosystem
This dataset presents the data used in working paper No. 2-EN of the OBFA-TRANSFORM project.It includes detailed information on the financial volumes of German public core budgets in 2023. The dataset thus offers a comprehensive overview of public finance at different levels of government in Germany, supporting comparative analysis between federal, state, and municipal tiers.
The Bundesbank time series (1948–1998) provides comprehensive financial and monetary statistics for Germany, covering money supply, central bank balances, credit, deposits, savings, securities, and foreign positions. It includes detailed consolidated balance sheets of the Bundesbank and the banking system, as well as revenues, expenditures, and debt of public budgets at federal, state, municipal, and social insurance levels. The dataset also documents special funds and legacy debts from reunification, offering a full statistical picture of monetary policy, banking activity, and public finance in both West and East Germany

This dataset presents the data used in the OBFA-TRANSFORM Working Paper No. 4. This includes data on currency composition of FX reserves, volumes of offshore bank deposits in selected monetary jurisdictions, liquidity lines of the Eurosystem, and volumes of EUR-denominated safe assets.

All Quiet on the Fiscal Front? Off-Balance-Sheet Fiscal Agencies in the German War Economy, 1914-1918
This dataset presents the data used in the OBFA-TRANSFORM Working Paper No. 7. This includes data on the indebtendess of German Reich and of five kinds of German off-balance sheet fiscal agencies, i.e., the Seehandlung (the major Prussian state bank), the Darlehnskassen (loan societies), Kriegskreditbanken (war credit banks), Kriegsgesellschaften (war companies), and state-owned companies.
Reichsbank Balance Sheet Time Series (1876–1924) This dataset extends the material presented in the OBFA-TRANSFORM Working Paper Series No. 8. It documents the balance sheet structure of the Reichsbank from 1876 to 1924, detailing the composition and evolution of its assets and liabilities.

The German Time Series (selection, 1834-2018) This dataset extends the data underlying OBFA-TRANSFORM Working Paper No. 8. It combines historical and contemporary evidence on Germany’s macroeconomic development, fiscal position, monetary aggregates, and banking sector. The material spans different territorial definitions – from the Zollverein and the German Reich to the Federal Republic, the GDR, and unified Germany – allowing long-run comparisons and structural insights.
